Back in the studio this week. Feeling buried under piles of receipts that need to be logged under business expenses, accounting. It’s August: I’m not “off” or on vacation. So it is with some envy that I notice everyone else’s European or upstate New York images in my feed— I want to go away, too! That’s only half true: I am a homebody when I’m home, and this is the first week I’ve really spent in my studio in a while. I’m trying to transition to restarting my imagination, but since wrapping teaching, I’m caught up in a series of never-ending administrative spin cycles: planning Fall and Spring events, bookclub, travel, grant applications, and so on. Currently, I’m more “active” on social media to promote book stuff, but hopefully that’ll start winding down soon —I, too, want to log-off as bad as everyone reading this.
