“If poetic structure is not in harmony with the formal occurrence of the author’s thoughts, the author will never be able to communicate beyond the edifice of what she or he attempts to say.” These lines are from the Introduction to a bilingual edition of SexoPuroSexoVeloz y Septiembre by Dolores Dorantes, translated from the Spanish by Jen Hofer (Kenning Editions, 2008), which I was reading while en route to Milwaukee.
